Why use Get Well Food?

Last Mile Leeds have been delivering within Leeds city centre
for more than 6 years. We have regularly been asked by cafes whether we can do
lunchtime  deliveries, and the answer has always been yes.

Yet, so far, no one has asked us to deliver on our commitment.

There are several reasons why breaking into the lunchtime delivery market has proven a challenge.

Cost

For an individual ordering lunch to their office, the additional cost of delivery makes this unattractive. It would
require a group of customers to all order for delivery at the same time, to bring the delivery costs down to an acceptable level.

Timing

You are busy at lunchtime. Most customers visit your cafe at lunchtime, and you have limited staff. You certainly don’t want to be sending them out and about delivering food.

We are busy at lunchtime. This is our busiest period so to commit to making deliveries at this time would be difficult. Even
if we were able to do it, this would be the period when we would expect to be charging the greatest premium.

So, the ideal delivery customer base would be a group of customers who will order separately but are located
geographically close together.

Why do hospital patients make the perfect delivery customer?

  • They can’t collect.
  • They don’t have a great deal of choice.
  • They deserve a treat. Whether patients are
feeling unwell, or they are being visited by someone who cares for them there
are numerous reasons why they might want to order in something a little bit
    special.
  • They will pay ‘a little bit more’ for the
    convenience of delivery.
  • They don’t have anything better to do ‘after
    lunch’.
  •

So why does Get Well Food make sense for my café?

  • You will have the opportunity to promote your
café through our website. Yes, you are competing against each other, but competition
is healthy (just like your food!). Our customers get that. But most of all they
    get a massive choice.
  • Our brand is a new concept, but one which makes sense to patients immediately. We expect to get a lot of interest and curiosity. It’s up to you to turn this into conversions.
  • Marketing cost. Because we are only marketing one website, marketing costs are low. We will hope for a small contribution
towards these costs from those who sign up, but let’s see how things go shall we?
  • We will make collections at a fixed time. No
need for you to send your own staff. Or ring us up. All you need to do is make sure our ‘Collection Ready’ sign is in your window, and we will be there.
  • We are aiming at the after-lunch lull.

FAQ

What does it cost?

We will charge a fixed fee per ward or department that we
deliver to. Initially this will be £3. We do not take a percentage of the total order charge. Last Mile Leeds (Last Mile Delivery Ltd will invoice you for the deliveries that we make on your behalf).

Whether you charge this to your customers is up to you.

We expect food to be ready to go after 2.15. If it is not ready and then we will charge a waiting time.

How will we arrange a delivery?

Get Will Food will provide you with a ‘GWF’ flag which you can
display in your window. If this is displayed at 2.15pm (Monday to Friday) then our delivery rider will come in to collect your orders between 2.15 and 2.30pm.
These should be individually packed for delivery, and clearly labelled with both;

  • a name a ward or room number/department
  • a contact number If these are not provided then we may need to return your order.
  •

How will the money be collected?

Visitors to our website ( getwellfood.co.uk ) will be directed to the individual websites or Facebook pages of participating cafes. They will then call you to place their order, and you will take payment over the phone.

We will not be able to collect money from patients on your behalf.

Can Get Well Food collect the money from patients?

Unfortunately, not. Collection of money at the time of order is the responsibility of each café. We expect to have multiple orders to
deliver in a short time, and our staff do not carry cash or change.

Is this sanctioned by the hospital?

No. But we have had positive responses from hospital staff.

Will staff be able to order also?

Yes. We have already had some interest from hospital staff, who have told us they are often too busy to leave the wards to buy lunch.

How can we make this a success?

Although this is by no means a requirement, we suggest that if you have food which would otherwise go to waste after the lunch time rush, you can send it over to the hospital for the staff on wards where patients have been ordering. There is nothing like a bit of free food to create some interest!
